Palms Silhouette

On October 20th, I drove home staring at the sky. I could see the clouds culminating overhead, and recognized the trademark pre-show in the heavens that usually accompanies Southern California the sunset after a heavy rain. They were clearing, sparking with oranges and yellows as the sun began to dip into the horizon. I raced to get home as to not miss the main attraction. A five minute window of opportunity where the sun hits a particular angle, and the sky explodes into a dazzling aurora of mesmorizing pinks against heavy blues.

I darted out back, and started to take snapshot after snapshot. There's a small golf course behind my house, making for great clearance and a crisp environment. The rolling green hills would only promote a surreal aspect to it, almost out-worldly, and I had my route planned out as I burst out the back door. I briskly walked to my first vantage point, readied my camera, and waited for the skies to turn. I didn't need to wait long. After several shots, warming up my hand, the sky had dipped to a quick dim, before illuminating once again with the most flush display of color I have seen in months! My instincts were correct, as I found myself in a photographer's dreamscape with a veil of pink unfurled over the expansive rolling landscape.

Thus, I present this experience to you.
