I decided to break apart one of my old PSD files, and make a little flash project out of it. I've always wanted to combine an interactive element to the colored images I do just to give them that extra kick of depth. So now I'm making a rather ballsy venture into making a Flash diorama.

It's good to keep the Flash skills in check, too. It was a heck of a lot easier to make than I thought it would be.

Photoshop CS2
Wacom Tablet
CGTextures.com
Flash8

Careful with the mouse, though. Swift movements may cause motion sickness.

I think this is a really neat concept. Although it's kinda weird that the rocks vibrate as the picture moves, but I'm not sure if you can help that or w/e.

This is great, it just adds that little bit extra depth that has kept me looking at the piece for a long time. :D
I'd love to try something like this myself.

Neat concept and way of combining the two mediums. Only thing I notice is that the rockface infront of the girl's feet and nearest to us kind of has a rough edge, but it's not nearly noticeable enough to subtract from it. The little detail of the blowing dirt is a nice touch.

i have always wanted to do something like that in flash, but never got around to doing it, it is very cool. but i think instead of just following the mouse, it would be cool to click and drag to scroll around the image, though, i don't remember the scripting for Action Script 2, i only know how to do it in Action Script 3.

I thought about that, but realized that since people only look at images for a few seconds before moving on to the next image, I opted the route of making the interactive element as simple to discover as possible. If people had to click, I figured they would only see a still image.
