I chose Art Nouveau/symbolism, cause I love it and I am madly in love with Klimt`s art and Audrey Beardley style... so well, here is the result!

It`s been a while since I drew my muse in a dark mood. Suits him well...

Inspired by Audrey Beardsley and Gustav Klimt (Art Nouveau/Symbolism)

Birth name Aubrey Vincent Beardsley
Born 21 August 1872(1872-08-21)
Brighton, England
Died 16 March 1898(1898-03-16) (aged 25)
Menton, France
Nationality English
Field Illustration
Training Westminster School of Art
Movement Art Nouveau, Aestheticism

Aubrey Vincent Beardsley (21 August 1872 – 16 March 1898) was an English illustrator and author. His drawings, executed in black ink and influenced by the style of Japanese woodcuts, emphasized the grotesque, the decadent, and the erotic. He was a leading figure in the Aesthetic movement which also included Oscar Wilde and James A. McNeill Whistler. Beardsley's contribution to the development of the Art Nouveau style and the poster movement was significant, despite the brevity of his career before his early death from tuberculosis.

Gustav Klimt
Gustav Klimt (July 14, 1862 – February 6, 1918) was an Austrian Symbolist painter and one of the most prominent members of the Vienna Secession movement. His major works include paintings, murals, sketches, and other art objects. Klimt's primary subject was the female body,[1] and his works are marked by a frank eroticism—nowhere is this more apparent than in his numerous drawings in pencil (see Mulher sentada, below).[2]

Very beautiful styling.  I'm also a big fan of Klimt and Beardsley.  I fell in love with Beardsley's work when I saw an exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.  If you like Beardsley, check out the work of Irish artist Harry Clarke.  He was a contemporary of Beardsley, but not as well known which is a shame.

Thank you Alison for the lovely comment, and you are lucky to have been able to see his art in person. I´ve not had the pleasure. Harry Clarke´s work is daunting, the same as Beardsley´s and at the same time beautiful. I love the illustrations these artists created, such  talent, maybe the darkness of the ink gave it that magical touch.... And as many artists, their work forgotten or re - discovered later. Wonderful movement these lads had, until of course they were displaced by "modernism" (Cubists, subrealists etc). I guess art has quality of surviving the ages, the movements or fads,  gladly and we get to see the magnific works produced by these men... and just enjoy their work regardless of the era, movement or fashion :love:
