With so much of the site being flooded by AI content, it’s gotten a lot harder for real artists to compete with big AI accounts. A real artist can spend hours (or days) on a single piece, while a machine can generate something in seconds with a prompt and a click. Even though we know that quality beats quantity, it's still difficult to keep up with it's output.
I see so many Deviants with genuinely wonderful galleries, yet their submissions average ten favorites or so, and their follower counts sit at around 400. Does that mean they’re bad artists? Not at all. It means the platform just isn’t as friendly to human-made art as it used to be, especially for people who take their time and put real effort into every piece.
