Kasa Obake - Umbrella Ghosts by Verdego Kasa Obake - Umbrella Ghosts by Verdego
Those playful tsukumogami, the Kasa Obake, here delight in spooking a small dog. Do not worry for the animal though, while they can be frightening, they are completely harmless, and merely delight in mischief.

One April first, I used one of these as the villain in a role-playing game. It was upset because it had been separated from his pal, the zories.

Hurray for youkai! :D I love the reptilian feet you gave them. The background is also nice. But what is that animal in the foreground?

Thanks! I think I may have styled the feet of a traditional painting of them I saw somewhere... Edo era maybe. The creature in question is little black Pomeranian dog... and I think he may be having a bit of a heart attack, heh. He'll be alright though.

I have heard of many Yokai, I think they're really very interesting, if you like them, I highly recommend this website [link] it's a great source for information on them in English with sources going back to some of their earliest mentions cited. Please do feel free to show whomever you like, more ghosties for everyone!

That looks awesome. At first i thought they were bananas though. Then i thought they were table lamps. Now i know that they are actually umbrellas. I hope im right this time. I have absolutely no idea what tsukumogami is D:.. You did a great job in the drawing anyway. You paint really well too. I suck at painting. Good job!

Well despite the tsukumo-gami's more vicious nature, seems these guys just like to have fun, never accept an offer from one for a flight over Japan though, I assure you.
