Survival - Nanaki/Red XIII

Please note, this piece was a gift and is not for sale. While I do take commissions (see below), I do not remake pieces that I have already made. Thank you for your understanding.

About : This piece was created as a long promised gift to my friend Marina.  She was diagnosed with Leukemia earlier this year and has had to undertake many obstacles and to sacrifice many things.  But she’s taken it all in stride and kept her head held high.  Marina has been such an inspiration to myself and many others.  I simply had to create a piece for her, commemorating her bravery.

Marina has a love for video games so I knew I was going to do something in that vein.  I decided on Nanaki from Final Fantasy 7; he is a fighter and survivor too.  I was listening to the song “Survival”, by Muse, and this piece sprung to life in my mind.  Muse is also one of her favorite bands so it was perfect.

I always put my heart into every piece I make, but when it is for a friend, it’s like my sculptures take on a life of their own.  They really do just flow right from my hands.  It’s an AWESOME feeling.

Read the lyrics that are the inspiration behind this piece.
