Are shots the only way to take testerone (or whatever it's called)?

Not being quite sure of all the possible delivery methods myself, I did a bit of googling and found this: "The most common method is intramuscular injection with a syringe. Other delivery methods include transdermal application through a gel, cream, or patch applied to the skin; orally by swallowing tablets (this method is uncommon, as oral delivery of C-17 alpha alkylated testosterone has been associated with negative effects on the liver); sublingually/buccally by dissolving a tablet under the tongue or against the gums; or by a pellet inserted under the skin. The T delivery method used will depend on the type of medication available in the country of treatment, the health risks/benefits for the patient, personal preference, and cost." (From [link])

I'm guessing the injection method is the most common because it's also the cheapest, and (at least in the US) health insurance generally won't cover costs related to transition. Although I've gotta admit, stabbing myself in the thigh with a needle every week still gives me the willies and I've been on T for almost 5 years, heh.

I'm so jealous- I've tried explaining to my parents and they don't believe me: 'It's just a phase' 'It's normal to feel uncomfortable' 'You'll grow out of it'.. I want to go on HRT as well!

I am, yes. :) Found it much more welcoming than the rather politically and socially conservative state in which I used to live. ;)

LOL I wondered - yep, I do get it from Strohecker's. :) It's nice to have a local place to buy it rather than having it shipped from halfway across the country.

Congrats on transition! I want to say it's fun, but then sometimes it's just weird...hmm. It's certainly interesting, at any rate.

Maybe I'll see you at the Pride festival next month? ;)

Nice simple image with such deep connotation. It's always nice to see other guys on here being brave enough to show trans related art. How long have you been on T for now?

Can I ask... Does it hurt a lot? My Fiancé is F2M and I want to know if he'll be in pain or anything... Sorry if this is a stupid question :(

It's not a stupid question at all. :)

Some guys say the shots don't hurt, for me they hurt a tiny bit for just a second and that's it. Very much worth it too, IMO.

I don't log on here all that often -

A lot of things stay the same, but (of course ;) )plenty of them change during transition - a lot of people say couples won't stay together through it all, but my husband and I are still happily married, so it can definitely be done and done well.

I wish you and your fiance the best of luck. :)

It's not nearly as spooky looking when you're seeing the needle from a different angle...well, at least not for me, anyway.

Unicornsexuality rocks, btw. :D

Yes, I am :) and I've come to the realization that the whole 'what makes a man/woman' thing runs a lot deeper than most people think it does...

so I wanted to maybe get people to think about that with the photo. :D

Thank you very much! We definitely get a unique couple of turns around the sun, eh?

what makes a man/woman is a really great question and I assume most of the people tend to forget asking it to themselves as the answer seems so obvious, but it's really interesting to think about it more. Until now the only somewhat answer I've found is "you're what you've decided you are no matter what" but I think there's to go further than that. And in the end there's probably no answer, everyone's got their answer...
Still as I went through your gallery I saw photos of your son (he's very cute btw) and wondered if you got if before or during/after your transition and many other questions about what it's like to be both trans and parent. I'd understand if you wouldn't answer, I'm just interested because I'm trans myself and i'd like to have kids someday even if there will surely made of anything but me... :)

Thanks! :)

I had my son just pre-transition, actually. It's an interesting experience to be a transgendered/transsexual parent; although oddly it doesn't seem to be the kids that are having problems with it all. Most of the issues I've come across are with outside parties--friends, family members, people that have just heard about it and automatically condemn it as 'wrong', etc. that have aren't able to understand, themselves, and who are uncomfortable with the idea.

My kids are doing great, they're listened to and loved and are growing up very well. If you as a trans-identified person are interested in having children at some point, I wish you the best of luck--my advice would be to do what you honestly feel is right. Trans people can be excellent parents, I think it's the biases and predjudice of society at large that present us as a community with our greatest problems.

i do understand... I've got a sister that's 12-year older than me and yet got two daughters, one of the two is 6 now and saw me transitionning (the other one is too little to ask questions). at the beginning my sister didn't want to explain her daughters what was happening with me but finally my girlfriend explained the situation to my niece in a way she could understand and since then she always called me by my new name and corrected any gender mistake anyone did to me. children can be love and tolerance as long as they get the explainations they need i assume, and thus they can become good people as long as the parents as good parents no matter what gender they are and what are their sexual preferences.

it makes feel good and give hope to see people like you, it's probably not easy everyday but you're a pionneer helping to change people's minds. the word "fight" comes to my mind when I think about all trans people (and even gays, intersex, prostitutes etc) have to do to defend their rights as human beings but I'd like to find another word, something more peaceful... I wonder which word could fit?
My words may be awkward, I'm young and I've no social experience on such matters but somehow I hope I could improve, learn to make myself useful and such...
thank you very much for taking the time to answer :)

Seriously, thank you so much. :) It's heartening to hear that I'm making a positive impact out there, I fight (there's that word again, lol) so hard in the hopes that I might be able to help others see us and understand that we're not scary but simply human, just like they are. I just want to do good and make the world a better place for everybody.

I wish you all the best though, truly; and thank you again for commenting.

(sorry for late reply)
honestly, you're more than welcome, you sound wise and that's really nice. making the world a better place for all is a wish I share with you.
I tend to think nature doesn't make errors of any kinds and that everything has a purpose, even the bad things (like wars are a need to limit the population). I think gays exist to take care of the orphans but about us trans people the only explaination of our existency I've thouhgt about so far is to open the minds of our human brothers. I wonder if there's something else...
