Let's check how "Kitch" am I:
☑ Cheesy art.
☑ Pretentious (I love imagining that any piece of shiny junk is some mystical artifact. Yeah!).
☑ Excessive ornamentation (Heck, yeah! I love it!).
☑ Cheap materials (Yay! They're definitely my stuff!).
☑ I'm from a poor country.
☒ Commercial intention.
☒ Female artist.
Yeah! I'm an almost perfect "Kitch" artist!
The ☒ on "commercial intention" is not because I haven't tried to sell one or two things. I just gave up.
So being male is my sole imperfection as a Kitch artist. You know how prejudices work in art:
If a white european man creates something really cheesy, art critics will say it is "art".
If a dark-skinned woman from a third world country creates something really cheesy, art critics (and other artists) will say it is "kitch".
So, the same work could be "art" or "kitch" based on the sex and/or race of whoever created it.
I think I prefer to be called "Kitch".
