Rei Chugo stood outside the Citadel at Luthadore with a simple task laid before him. He was to get the Death Scythe amulet that was being guarded by the Necromancers inside Luthadore. The amulet was one of eight amulets that he needed to resurrect the Lord of Darkness.
The Lord of Darkness wasnt dead; he was merely in eternal sleep. The Lord of Darkness was the most powerful and feared Sorcerer of his time. He became over confident in time and was put to the eternal sleep he remains in to this day by a powerful Sorcerer named Meyo Yugi or less commonly known as the Lord of Heaven. The ruins of their final battle are still there to this date. The town of Frost is a monument of just how powerful the two Sorcerers were.
In the end, after seven straight days of fighting with magic, Meyo sacrificed his life to put the Lord of Darkness to sleep. He used his sword, the Slumber, to pierce the chest of the Lord of Darkness and with his Light amulet, put the Lord of Darkness in eternal sleep.
The Light amulet is a very powerful amulet that heightens the wearers stamina. The amulet is also used to summon Light. There are very few people alive that know about the ninth and tenth forms of magic because no Sorcerer has appeared since the Battle of Power between Meyo and the Lord of Darkness. No one knows about the last two forms of magic because when the Lord of Darkness was put to sleep, Meyo broke the last Light amulet into eight pieces. Only one Light amulet ever existed and it was divided amongst the other eight Lords of Magic.
Rei wore a similar amulet around his neck, a Dark amulet. Rei needed both the Light and Dark amulets to revive the Lord of Darkness. That is why he was at the Luthadore Citadel. He had spent the last year locating the eight Citadels of power. He had already paid a visit to six of the eight Citadels. The Luthadore Citadel made seven. Once he had the last two pieces of the Light amulet he could put the amulet back together and revive his master. Rei laughed. The previous Lords of Magic had put up little resistance and he expected much of the same from the Lord of the Dead.
Rei stepped forward and used a gust of wind to open the citadel doors. The Necromancers inside panicked when they saw who the intruder was. Some of them began raising undead warriors and mages to fight Rei with. Rei laughed at them. He said a few words of power and a giant golem rose from the stone of the Citadel.
Some of the Necromancers and their pets began attacking the golem, but with little success. The remainder of the Necromancers advanced on Rei. Rei concentrated on the opposite side of the room while he said the power words to create a Frozen Orb. After being transported to the door at the far end of the entryway Rei unleashed his Orb.
The majority of the Necromancers and their pets cried out in pain. Is this all you people can do? Rei shouted as he opened the door and walked down the hallway. Dead corpses lay sprawled on the floor in the hallway. Rei cursed and raised an Energy Shield. Corpses began to explode as he made his way down the hallway.
He reached two sets of stairs and a doorway at the end of the hallway. He made his way upstairs, but found nothing but more Necromancers and relics he had no use for. He killed all of the Necromancers that stood in his way as he made his way from floor to floor. When he had looked in the last room on the top floor he went back down the stairs to the first basement floor.
The first basement floor was where the Necromancers slept and no one was on the floor so he made his way to the last floor. The second basement was filled with traps and Necromancers, but he avoided all the traps and killed all the Necromancers that stood in his way. He was about to open the final door in the Citadel when he heard footsteps coming down the stairs. He had to hurry, he thought.
He opened the door and was frozen in place. Why couldnt he move? What was happening to him? I see you havent encountered one of the other Lords how were willing to use their elements most dangerous and effective spells. The man in front of him said. I am the Lord of the Dead and you must be the man trying to raise the Lord of Darkness? Your journey ends here.
The man forced Reis bones to move in directions they werent used to. Rei screamed in pain, but fought it. He made the ground beneath the Lord of the Dead turn to mud. It caught the Lord by surprise and was all the time he needed to launch Frozen Orb at the Lord.
Two undead mages rose from the ground just in time to protect the Lord. One of the undead men was a Blazer and used a Fire Ball to melt his Orb. The Blazer sent a second more powerful Fire Ball at Rei. Rei raised an Energy shield just in time stop a Shock attack from the man in the hallway.
Rei withdrew a dagger and threw it at the Lord. The dagger hit the Lord in the shoulder just as he was transported to the mountains to the east and north a bit from the Citadel. Rei shot a Fire Ball at the Storming. The Storming that transported them to the mountains disappeared a moment before the Fire Ball would have hit him in the chest.
Blast it all! Rei shouted. He concentrated on the room he had been in and was transported their. The room was empty. He had expected the Lord of the Dead to be dead on the floor, but he wasnt in the room. Rei had apparently been a bit careless this time. The Lord of the Dead was stronger than the other Lords he had fought before. Blast it, Rei cursed again. He will have to be more diligent in the future, he thought.
He made his way through each floor one at a time, but the Citadel had been abandoned. No one living remained in the building. Rei would have to find that Storming and kill him after he paid a visit to the Lord of Game. Rei concentrated and left the Citadel, leaving it empty except for the corpses of the dead.
