Supreme Court Rules For Same-Sex Marriage
In a landmark ruling, the United States Supreme Court - with a vote of 5-4 - ruled that same-sex couples have the constitutional right to marry, and states cannot take that right away from. them. This decision will require all 50 states and U.S. territories to recognize all legally-performed marriages from all jurisdictions. This makes the U.S one of about 21 countries that legally recognize same-sex marriage,

Ghost Angler here speaking to you all! And SnaiLords
So I just wanted to inform all fellows that I, in order to make the celebration of reaching 500 and over better, have made a chat room here in DA. I am new to the whole damn thing so I have little to no experience with it plus no idea of what to do lol
[*] Here's the direct link: http://chat.deviantart.com/chat/AnglerArmy
There exists one on Facebook's Angler Army group too, but I'm not in administration of that one. [I wish to but Life is cruel XD]
[*] Also, I am creating better said trying to create a private chat room for us anglers. If finished, it will be in another page available to DA's and Facebook's Angler Army members. If discontinued you will never hear about it ever again.
This was made possible thanks to: DumbBlond101 She gave me the idea. Everyone, L-word her for that!

The Art of Life: Biomedical Communications
Art in the Professions
What is it?
Ever since humans started to explore the world around them, they have tried to come up with ways to record what they have seen and found. We capture the movement and grace of the animals we have hunted on cave walls. And when we need to communicate to each other, we start with a picture. The field of biomedical communications really started from these humble but tremendous beginnings and it has exploded into a vibrant and constantly-evolving field. Biomedical communications is a bridge of technical know-how that spans the body of scientific knowledge with artistic expression to get the message across. This means anything that you can think of that involves using art to get a message across can be technically considered as biomedical communication. The sky is really the limit.
The art of life is roughly divided into medical illustrations and biological illustrations, but the borders are usually blurred in the industry today a

Howl’s Moving Castle 1
Howl’s Moving Castle is best known as the 2004 animated fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki.
While it is as beautifully animated as all of Studio Ghibli's other films this was one of the few times Miyazaki based a film on an existing work. The film is an adaptation of British author Diana Wynne Jones’ 1986 young-adult novel by the same name and the first book in th

A Warning in Another’s Eyes
Stop and Stare
Staring is not the same as intently gazing into another person’s eyes as a manner of communication.
That can be a quite pleasurable experience. Staring into another’ eyes too often presages the delivery of a warning or very bad news. The fixed stare is the facial equivalent of a flashing amber light, indicating you should proceed but only with great caution. Keep that in mind as you peru

Duel of the fates

Famously said by many, “Ninety percent of success is showing up.” How true it is about a soul killing combination: looking at what our own first efforts in any endeavor, particularly art, result in, and then looking at the works of far more experienced artists. Giving up always seems the logical, if panic

Your Art In The Game
You May Say I'm An Artist...
I am haunted in this holiday season by the opening lines of Charles Dickens’s A Tale of Two Cities, his novel about a society 250 years ago coming apart in its seemingly irreconcilable divisions. Could it be these lines define where we have come to find ourselves today?
“It was the best of times,
it was the worst of times,
in the age of wisdom,
it was the age of foolishness,
it was the epoch of belief,
it was the epoch of incredulity,
it was the season of Light,
it was the season of Darkness,
it was the spring of hope,
average pay rates for comic book artists:
"Generally, the good graphic novels fetch $100 - $300 per page, although professionals who have been in the industry for a long time can command as much as three times that amount. In fact, one elite illustrator commanded as much as $1,000 a page (on a 22-page comic book)! Most of the popular titles that artists, like David Cassaday, work on are monthly issues, which end up providing him with a six-figure salary. The back-end royalties on merchandise, trade paperbacks and movie royalties are also generous."
"In 2008, Sean Jordan, founder of Army Ant Publishing, claimed established freelance comic book artists were paid anywhere from $220 to $4,400 per book project, which breaks down to $10 to $200 per page. Pencil and inker artists can ask for $75 to $200 a page. Colorists often fall in the range of $35 to $125, and writers and letterers make $10 to $50 a page. A lucky few dozen famous artists working for to

The Steampunk Menagerie
The magic of thousands of years of natural selection and other evolutionary factors has created in all living creatures pretty much the optimal version of each for where each fits in the world. But never tell a human being, especially a steampunk, that there’s no need to fix what isn’t broken.
Here’s a collection of interesting imaginings of mechanical steampunk replacements for the somewhat mundane denizens of the actual natural world. For some people, especially some artists, until there’s been an upgrade or enhancement to anything, there just isn’t any “there” there.
