Ladies and gentlemen,
You are about to behold
The famous
Disappearing act!
My lovely assistant
Will vanish
Before your very eyes.

I am an illusion.
I am not a girl.
I am emptiness;
A negative exponent.
And the less you see of me
The more beautiful I'll be
And then I'll be
Gone.

Let the show begin!
This is a poem I wrote a few months ago that I found on my phone when I was deleting old stuff.  I think I remember liking it a whole lot more back when I first wrote it. whatever. At the time I was having issues with body image.

I keep going back and reading this poem, so I finally faved it!  It's a powerful message, and I like the fact that it has a very specific meaning to you, yet it can be openly interpreted by the reader. For me, it reminds me of the phenomenon of "the big fade" - when a friend or acquaintance just disappears, but they really left a while ago, and you start romanticizing about how they look and who they are, but they are really nothing like what you imagine them to be.
