Barely three weeks have passed since my biological father died.... My little brother died a few days ago. The agony of watching the life force slip away from him, the horror of the death rattle. It's an experience that I wouldn't wish for anyone, not even my worst enemies. I'm glad I got to be there for him and in support of our family. I feel numb. He was only thirty...

My biological father, Richard, may not have been the best person, or the best birth father, but I still feel his loss keenly. I still have good memories from my early years when my parents were together and when I last visited him 16 years ago. I'm glad I didn't have to see him in person near the end or witness his decline into alcoholism and self neglect. .....It seems like my entire family has been unwilling to learn proper self care and mental health, which has contributed to me now being almost entirely without any family left before the age of 40 (I turn 39 in March). ...Sorry to use this as a seeming place for bad news all the time, but my online friends are kind of the only family I have left. I cherish you all, so please take care of yourselves. We only get one go at life. RIP Richard Baldwin, 1949 - 2022

I turn 38 on Tuesday, March 1st. I miss my mother more on my birthday than I do on her birthday, Feb 19th. If there's one person in my entire family that never forgot about me (even my bio dad, I shit you not, could never be bothered to remember) and no one acted like I mattered at all once I reached adulthood. I still get well wishes and cards from friends and the in-laws and that means the world to me, but... it's just not the same. No one could truly, fully replace the touching Mother to Daughter cards. We had our disagreements, but she never had a mean word to say every March 1st. It mattered so much to know that I wasn't forgotten, but when she died, no one cared anymore. She wasn't there to remind anyone that hey, she exists, you should say something.... Her death left behind such a huge chasm of deafening silence, turning the pain of her loss into something beyond that, something so gut-wrenching that it became tangible (ever cry so hard you throw up? Yeah, that was me). She was
