Very good! Atom (Astro) is not simple to draw, even if he seems.

Even some 2003s anime series authors did not get his really look: sometimes the mistake is in the proportions of his eyes or his legs or his arms... And his round head is not for all styles ;-)

Is it pencil on plate? Maybe you've got to ink it somehow. Or keep it away from water.

Thx! And I've seen plenty of mistakes in the 2003 series as well :D mostly in the eyes though, And this is a party plate/ it's not glass or ceramic. It was easier to draw on... And I had ran out of paper that day XD

Not ceramic? Good, so it's easier to keep.
Maybe a piece of paper would be better for a drawing like that, but a start is always a good start.
If you like, you can do some good exercise. If you take a look at my first drawings about Atom, you see there are lots of tiny details I did not get.
Even now I think I've go to improove a bit.

It's strange that the 2003s series, so accurate and well made, could fail on this. Some episodes are great: when Atom meets the robot-cop Delta for the first time, the robot-boy meets a technician who looks like Mastro Geppetto from Disney's Pinocchio, and in that scene Atom/Astro looks perfect.
In some episodes his head is too big, Uran seems to not having hands and all the characters are a bit awkward, as they were all a bit stupid (the Pluto episodes).
And in the last episodes, the ones in Antarctica, Atom changes his face again: his eyes are too distant.
Luckily, they call the good staff to draw the last ones: the last showdown shows all characters at their best look.

In the old anime, the 1980s, Atom was good proportionate almost all the time: it was Tezuka's hand. Atom shows thousand expressions in few scenes, and you can get them only watching some episodes ten times.
For an example, when Mr. Holmespan tells him he does not want to be helped by a robot, Atom looks like a bit offended, than sad, than he clearly does not like Holmespan beat on his head. All this in few seconds.
The contrast of his machine nature and his cute look was alwasy present, a contrast that could be nerve-breaking, but that is an essencial part of Atom's essence.

Ah, and the 1963s series was full of errors and mistakes, but we can go over this: it was all handicraft, a sorta of miracle. They say it was the first anime ever, and it had more than 100 episodes...
