VClouds Weather 2 BIG Edition

Almost ten years has past since the original was released, so to celebrate it I release the Big Edition

The original SMALL SIZE version can be found Here

IMPORTANT - This skin requires Rainmeter v4.4 Beta r3404 or higher

Latest update info: 29.11.2020 - Fixed a log error caused by a misplaced line (thanks to warning077). fixes to the Korean language (thanks to duk6046).

Features:
• Up to 8 day forecast provided by The Weather Channel.
• Available in 20 languages: English, French, Italian, Russian, Polish, Hungarian, Czech, Dutch, Portuguese, Spanish, Catalan, Slovak, Serbian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Korean, Ukrainian, Finnish, German and Hebrew.
• Moon phase - a small moon phase image with additional info that can be toggled in the settings and a big moon phase integrated in the night time weather image.
• Includes 9 vertical and 3 horizontal variations.
• Additional tooltip information for the forecast days (put the cursor over the weather forecast icons).
• Weather Alerts.
• Panel for selecting forecast days and opening various options.
• Easy to customize (colors, fonts, etc).
• Semi transparent background (You can change its color and opacity or disable it completely).

* all the graphics, buttons and the moon and weather icons were created by me. if you want to use the icons look Here and read the description.

Instructions:
• To change the settings open the panel with the upper right button and click the gear shaped button on the left - the settings variable file will open (with notepad), you can change many things in there (be aware that the horizontal variations has their own settings and you will need to change it separately). after you make your changes, save the file and refresh the skin.
• the 9 day forecast + 3 horizontal versions can be selected via the panel (the numbers on the panels).
• Click the ? button on the panel to read further instructions about language, colors and time formats.

Weather Location:
• All location codes are no longer supported. Instead you need to use Latitude and Longitude coordinates.
You can search google for your city coordinates or use these sites: www.itilog.com or www.mapcoordinates.net

Click the button on the upper right corner of the skin to open the panel and click the Settings button, in the UserVariables.inc file that opens go to 'Latitude and Longitude' and paste the numbers replacing the old ones - save and refresh the skin.

Language, units and time formats:
Since the 9.6.20 update there are two sections for the language in the settings: 1. Language 2. LangTrans
each affect a different part of the skin.
1. Language - uses codes to change language of the weather conditions and data. (for example: en-US for English or de-DE for German)
2. LangTrans - This is the user created translation of the rest of the skin interface. (for example: French, German, Russian, etc)

all the language, units and time format settings are explained in the help file.
Click the triangle button on the top right and then the ? on the panel to read the detailed instructions.

Translation:
Those who want to translate this skin to their language, simply open the panel with the upper right button, click the question mark (?) and read the instructions.

* If you have fully translated VClouds Weather 2 to your language please share it and I will add it in the next update.

Updates:
• 1.9.2020 - Initial release
• 22.9.2020 - Added warning alerts to the tooltip of the Alert symbol (thanks for the help Omni-Brain). fixed small alignment issue in the Tonight moon image.
• 2.11.2020 - Added 'Chance of Precipitation' info to the forecast days. removed the redundant 'Chance of Precipitation' info from the tooltips. minor fixes.
3.11.2020 - Fixed a typo in the code that showed day 4 weather description instead of day 5. Thanks Manu11111 for the heads up.
29.11.2020 - Fixed a log error caused by a misplaced line (thanks to warning077). fixes to the Korean language (thanks to duk6046).

I have problems with humidity icons (these tiny drops of water). They just don't display. There are squares instead of them. How can I fix it?

Takes it hours if not days or months to pen the code for these cool skins and widgets. Thank you for all the time you have spent giving us the ability for very important information.

Thank you and your welcome :D

Very nice and easy to read.

I am from Sweden, you have the best Weather skin, but how can I change wind from km/h to (m/s) meter/sec, in sweden we have that.

VClouds's avatar

The data is taken directly from the weather.com website. from what I can see there is no option for meter/sec. only km/h and mph...

meter/sek=km/h/3.6, can I change this in your program...?

VClouds's avatar

Sure, you need to right click and choose 'Edit skin':

Search and replace:

[MeterWindCurrent]

MeasureName=@CurrentWindSpeed

MeasureName2=@UnitsSpeed

MeasureName3=@CurrentWindDirectionCompass

Meter=String

X=r

Y=17r

FontFace=#FontFace#

FontColor=#FontColor3#

FontSize=#FontSize3#

StringAlign=LEFT

StringStyle=#DetailedDataFontStyle#

StringEffect=SHADOW

FontEffectColor=#FontEffectColor#

AntiAlias=1

Text="#Wind#: %1 %2 %3"

Hidden=#DetailedData#

WITH:

[MeterWindCurrent]

MeasureName=@CurrentWindSpeedCalc

MeasureName2=@CurrentWindDirectionCompass

Meter=String

X=r

Y=17r

FontFace=#FontFace#

FontColor=#FontColor3#

FontSize=#FontSize3#

StringAlign=LEFT

StringStyle=#DetailedDataFontStyle#

StringEffect=SHADOW

FontEffectColor=#FontEffectColor#

AntiAlias=1

Text="#Wind#: %1 m/s %2"

Hidden=#DetailedData#

Also add this to the file:

[@CurrentWindSpeedCalc]

Measure=Calc

Formula=([@CurrentWindSpeed] * 5) / 18

DynamicVariables=1

Now save the file and refresh the skin.

Thank you, perfekt..

The settings display does not honor font changes to my system. I'm running 1600x900 display and a few fonts are larger than the 'out of the box' version of windows 10.

If I understand you correctly than that looks like a Rainmeter application bug and not a skin specific problem.

I suggest that you post this issue in the Rainmeter forums:

Great Work, Thanks a lot

Because my laptops resolution is 1366x768, i can view until 4 days. What must do to view 5,6 and 7 days weather?

VClouds's avatar

You can use one of the horizontal variants that do fit fine on your screen or use the smaller version instead:

VClouds Weather 2

Can you add scaling for 4k screens please.

Good Evening,

I am just wondering if there are any other reports of Long&Lat numbers not working? I have tried a few different sites to get mine and followed the directions multiple times (editing the UserVariablesBig.inc) but each time I do and then refresh I just get a blank page. Thanks...great work on this though and hope I can get it working!

VClouds's avatar

Can you give me your location?

Also make sure you didn't unintentionally leave the minus sign (-) from the old number when pasting the new one.

I did actually double check that!

Sorry...tried a different text editor and it is working now! (guess 'Kate' isn't always the best)!

VClouds's avatar

Yep, sometimes the plain old Notepad is the thing you need...
