hi, am a gimp user and am still new to it, but i tried to take some brushes that am used to from photoshop to there and it doesnt work the same way, can you help me out with that please?

There is a plugin for Photoshop brushes [link]
Simplest way is to download the file and put it into a folder you can find easily in your documents. I'd call it "GIMP PLUGINS" or some such.

Then I'd open Gimp and at the top of the main page go to Edit > Preferences a new window will open. There will be a scroll down menu on the left side. Go all the way to the bottom and open Folders

In folders choose Plugins

Click on the little white page at the top to add as new, then click the folder (they're on the same bar) and navigate to where you put the photoshop plugin. Click OK. And you'll be told to restart Gimp.

Your photoshop brushes should show up in your brush list.

It sounds a lot harder than it really is.

I've been doing that for years with no problems.

Hope this helps. Let me know if it doesn't.

copied the file to every plug file in gimp directory and it didnt read the ABR brush set from the located folder..........

Hm.... That is very odd. Because I set it up in Gimp to test it yesterday and it worked for me. Did you try it the way I wrote it down? (wasn't clear in your reply, sorry if I misunderstood) The way I said to do it has always worked for me. So, it's puzzling that it's not working for you.

I installed this brush yesterday after installing the plugin the way I described [link] All you have to do to install brushes is follow the instructions I gave you except open Brushes instead of Plugins and navigate to the brushes you want to add.

I'm wondering if it may be the version of PS that the brush you chose that may be the problem. I've heard some of the latter versions of PS changed the brush format. If you look on the end of the brush file it should say .abr

Also, are you using regular Gimp or Gimp portable?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm just trying to help.

:( Sorry you're having such problems with it. :(

I'll try and poke around and see if I can come up with a solution for you.
