My Bio

My name is John James Valley I've been working on a series of drawings called "The Anatomy of a Mechanized Stallion" which I began in mid September of 2015. This body of work is highly detailed, large drawings done in pencil, three done in pen and one in watercolor. Since the three years that I have been working on this series I have been awarded the Don S. Williams Grant, a showing at Ferry Building Gallery in West Vancouver, B.C. July 18th to 30th, 2017. A one day showing on August 19th, 2017 at a studio/gallery on 4th street in Vancouver. I also exhibited my work in two art crawls with both showings that had an estimated seven hundred plus people that came through the highly profiled 195 Pemberton Studios in North Vancouver and two Culture Days open studios events.

Order To Disorder

I expanded on my theme and the theory "order to disorder" and incorporate the "Kessler syndrome" which is a scenario in which the density of objects in low Earth orbit is high enough that collisions between objects could cause a cascade where each collision generates space debris that increases the likelihood of further collisions. -Wikipedia. In my new picture, as the pieces break away from the stallion they collide with other pieces to produce even smaller pieces making this theory fitting to the narrative.

I drew the horse's head and legs with a lot of detail. As the horse gallops, slowly the body's breaking up into shards of shrapnel, cascading down to the rear of the stallion forming a chaotic abstraction. This represents the thermodynamic theory of ...
