Water Nymph by Valesco Water Nymph by Valesco
my latest work, i am kind of disappointed...i wanted to make so many details with filters etc, but somehow i must have changed the default setting in photoshop and the layers didn't react the way i wanted them to...i couldn't manage at all anymore!

anyways, at least i like the colours very much.

how do you think could i have given the background more depth???

Oooh... this is very pretty. I love how you can see the deffinition of her muscels.

Uh... if by "deepen" the background you mean give it more depth, the only thing I could think of is, depending on whether she's in the air or under water would be to add some clouds/ ripples and bubbles to the background. Because now, it just kind of looks like she's in a void.

But it's still good.

I like the shading, the glowing background and the pose in general. I don't know what else you could do with the background but I think it looks nice the way it is, especially the water. A too detailed background can make the picture confusing...

I know the feeling, when I do comics I need to make sure things stay the same panel to panel, but every once in a while I'll fiddle with my settings for one piece, and then have to struggle to figure out what they were before.

I'm not sure what you mean by "deepend the background. just put more space between the backdrop and where the feet are positioned on the ground... maybe use a gradient to darken the backdrop as you get further away.

I agree with Pixl btw. Her head is facing left but her hair is parted down. It'd be like if you parted your hair so it started at your ear and went about 4 inches above your head

hm....didn't know the hair would be so much of a problem^^ i can see my own logic behind the design. but never mind, thanks for constructive criticism!

I like the colour of her but something about it doesnt sit right. Perhaps the part in hair sits a little too high for her head.

hey thanks for the comment, but i don't understand you, sry, do you think you can describe better what you mean by "the part in her hair" ? cuz a friend of mine said the contrary, the hair would sit too low..

hard to describe in words When you look at natural parts in peoples hair there aren't that many really. A split down the middle, off to either side a bit or the ones that swirl out from a spot near the back of the head. With the angle her head it at the part goes off to the side too much and doesnt follow her skull back. The part itself needs to follow the skull. The hair after that can flow just about anywhere. Duno if this helps any. [link] That model is facing almost directly forward so you can see her hair part.

aaaah now i know what you mean, yes, her hair doesn't flow naturally, that's correct, it may look too stiff. but that's what i wanted, not considering that pics featuring water should rather be fluent in all it's parts...
