after a long pause with digital painting this was supposed to be a quick paint of a post-apocalyptic clown but i ended up spending 12 hours on it. normally i do pencil drawings and scan them in. in this one i drew everything with the tablet and i think it worked out ok. it really takes a long time before line drawing on the computer feels close to natural - its still very wonky but enough to set up a scene with simple forms like this. i spent a lot of time on the grey scale painting and then coloured it with overlay layer ...probably not the best way to do it. i feel much more secure setting up a scene in grey scale than painting with colours. i did not use photo textures because i was really enjoying to paint it all.
it might not look like much fun but for me it was the most satisfying painting i did in quite a while. i burned through two nights until early morning.
