Christian meets.... by VagabondX Christian meets.... by VagabondX
Another acquaintance begins. I haven't drawn Cricketeer in forever so I thought I would throw him into the mix.

I love putting superheroes into 'normal' situations so these guys are standing around at a super pot luck or something.

And I know what your thinking, where is Christian going with that potato chip? I don't know either but I thought it was funny.

For that matter, Cricketeer's plate is empty. I guess we'll just assume he lifted his mask to eat or something.

Another thought bubble I contemplated for Christian was "I sure hope that's a costume."

Ha! Terrific. It's always a hoot to see the Christian meet up with another character. He's got a high level of crossoverability to him -- as do many philosophically-based characters, I surmise.

That's fantastic. I got a nice big smile out of it. Well done. Plus, Cricketeer has a really neat design to him. And I see we have another modification to Christian's outfit?

Yeah, still messing with the look. I'm now thinking I'm not fond of the different blue shades between the torso and everything else.

I honestly am pretty envious of Cricketeers powers. I'd love to be able to foretell the weather.

I do have one already, though. I am pretty annoying.

You have a hammer. You are the craftsman, who repairs broken hope, and builds new love.

I have a bit of a poetic side to me, don't I?

I like the slice-of-life interaction between two super-dudes.

Cricketeer looks quite a bit like The Tick's Arthur after a weight-loss/exercise regimen and a cribbing of Venom's design notes.

(Maybe because one of the first good coloring jobs I did--sorta--was a hero named Cricket Kid)

Nice. The interaction tells us a bit about their personalities too. Not Much, since the conversation is so short, but enough to get a feel for them besides crusader and bug-guy...

You know what woud be a neat trick for Christian's hammer? That no matter what direction it faces the cross is NEVER upside down

I did, in fact, make that determination a while back. I did a couple pics where the hammer was upside down and left the cross that way as well for realism but it made me uncomfortable so I decided to forsake realism for respect.

I did have one deviant who gave me a cool scientific way to explain it but it was a big college-type word that I can't remember right now. Magnetometer or something like that.

You know an upside down cross is a symbol of St.Peter and has nothing to do with satanists or whatnot.

Yeah, you go the magnetometer thing right.

Also, I recently read about the origin of the inverted cross, and it really isn't as bad as most people think it is. The upside down cross is known as The Cross of Saint Peter, and is used in Catholicism as a Papal symbol. The basic reason being that when Peter was crucified, he requested that it be done on an inverted cross because he did not believe that he deserved to die in the same manner as Jesus. And because the popes are considered the successors to St. Peter, the inverted cross is the symbol that they use.

Apparently, if the inverted symbol was a crucifix (a cross with an image of Christ on it), that would be the symbol most associated with Satanism or an "Anti-Christ".

Ah, I see. I knew a bit of the story about Peter but I was unaware of the specification about cross versus crucifix. Thanks man.
