Orange tree and peasant girl by Uzi-Muzi Orange tree and peasant girl by Uzi-Muzi
Full title: The orange tree and the peasant girl.

--

info: made in Illu CS2, first time i'm starting to use gradient meshes and meshing :D

minor edit: I mean first time I actually include meshing in a finished piece... not first time I ever played around with meshes though :-p Let's not give across the wrong idea :-p

--

Quite happy about how it turned out actually. Feels like my style can evolve into yet something new and more, using these new techniques :)

This is such a unique style; I love the way some parts are over-exaggerated [like the oranges] while others are more akin to gesture drawings [the peasant girl]. It's a really, really cool piece

I should make more like these again, but I've been too busy trying to figure out new stuff lately and the only image in this style I can come up with is an autumn image... while it's 30+ degrees celcius here lol ^^

It's never to late to learn something though :) Although meshing is hard, so you need a lot of will to learn it :S

Hmm, very nice, Rob.

This one attracted my attention immediately. You and I seem to have a similar vision in mind.

I've been too tangled up playing with line qualities in vector. It's too tiring to create them in Inkscape.

My experiment without lines was quite refreshing and I think the same one goes to this one too. Hehe.

Thanks. Just watched some of your art. Very cool stuff out there.

I'm moving about several different directions all the time it seems though. But I seem to have a preference to work without lines or closed solid spaces ^^

I actually never heard about Inkscape until seeing the name on DA here a few weeks back btw. Never even knew there was an opensource vector program nowadays too >.< .

Yeah, Inkscape is quite nice but Illustrator is better in terms of workflow.

I've been looking for a free 3D but I found only Blender. If only they'd make it more user-friendly like Inkscape, though. That would be very nice.

Btw, thanks for adding me to your watchlist and collection. :D

I'll be visiting from time to time to watch your evolution. I'm waiting to see you metamorph fully into a "butterfly". :D

Haha, blender 3d, I'm actually trying to start off with that. That's probably the most intimidating piece of software I've ever touched :-p I found some really good tutorials for it though, that start at the very basic, explaining all about the interface itself (up to the point where it's almost overdone, but I kinda can appreciate that, especially considering how complex blender's UI is.).

Don't think they're going to win a UI award anytime soon for blender :-p . But from what I've heard it's designed to be fast-to-use at the cost of hard-to-learn.

No prob about the watch btw ;) :D

cya around :)

Ciao! And I'll be waiting for your first 3D here at dA.

haha, it IS scary!! A bit at least. I've actually played around with meshing so much before using it now. Just creating aimless things, trying to see how it works, rather than immidiately trying to actually create an image with it. Maybe that helped me slowly ease into them.

But they can be quite frustrating. I like to think of mesh vector as wild monkeys. Just when you think you got control of one it runs of flying all over the artboard sticking it's tongue out at you lol >.< But that's just my crazy mind prolly ^^

I think I understand what you mean about not showing great technique. Cause although I used meshes I used them quite freestyle, so you can't really tell whether I have really great control over them from this piece (which I don't... well, not really good like some people on DA here anyway :-p

I also started to notice that shapes or the content in this image aren't very well defined (except for the tree maybe, but even that is very stylized and abstract). I think it's part of this style though, although it could be interesting to see what can happen if I take a more defined approach :)

Ranting aside :-p, thanks for your comment and I'm glad you liked it anyway :D
