Shoggoth Jasmine by ursulav Shoggoth Jasmine by ursulav
Jasmine pearl tea is tiny rolled balls of green tea, scented with jasmine flowers.

It is not actually tiny dried shoggoths awaiting the touch of hot water to revitalize them and send them squishing from the teacup, bent on consuming all in their path in a mindless vengeance against the masters that created and abandoned them.

Really.

Honest.

(Tekeli-li, dude.)

------------------------------------------------
If I ever decide that a transparent amorphous glob is the idea spokesman for tea again, I want you to smack me. Why do I always forget how hard it is to paint transparent goo? Why?

Anyway! Digital, prints available for $10 or $20, send a note or visit [link] and YES, the tea will be available someday soon, to order on-line, watch my journal for details!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who NOT dries or freezes shoggoths and makes them into food

Ahaha! Would you mind horribly if I made a lame joke?
This is maddeningly adorable. I love these sort of labels. By any chance, have you heard of Ginny Joyner? Your illustrations are vastly different when it comes to subject and line style, but you two seem to share a favorite palette. Mrs. Joyner did the illustrations for Badger Balm. Anyway, that tea sounds delightful. I can't wait to try it. I love how you rendered the iridescence of the goo...And the Shoggoth looks so happy! :giggle:

Humorous concept, but you didn't have to trouble yourself making it transparent -Shoggoths may resemble giant amoebas, but their substance is described as being tar-like; opaque, blackish goo.

And you're missing a bunch of eye-balls! ;)

You are one of the artists I watch whose work is consistently so good I don't even really know what to say in a comment; however, I've been reading a lot of Lovecraft and I just had to stop being shy!

The whimsical feel of this juxtaposed with the horror of the Cthulu Mythos is hysterical!
You did a find job painting transparent goo btw. And he looks like a spokescreature. It's too cute.

"It is not actually tiny dried shoggoths awaiting the touch of hot water to revitalize them and send them squishing from the teacup, bent on consuming all in their path in a mindless vengeance against the masters that created and abandoned them."

That sounds like me in the morning, before I've had my coffee (or tea as the case may be).

The "Tekeli-li" reference is almost as hilariously delightful as the idea of tiny dried shoggoths in my tea. Here's to horribly-bioengineered hot drinks!

Have you ever read the H.P. Lovecraft short story "At the Mountains of Madness"? Shoggoths come from that work. Explaining the reference would involve spoilers for the story: if you like, I can PM them to you, but I'd rather not spoil indiscriminately. ;)
