Pangolin's Hammock by ursulav Pangolin's Hammock by ursulav
It's a pangolin in a hammock with masked lovebirds. Someone told me that I ought to paint more pangolins, and I thought "Yeah, I have neglected pangolins." I think I drew a pangolin ninja once. So far as I know, I've never painted lovebirds, so I'm killing two birds with one stone. (Two birds! Ha! I kill me!)

Annnnyway, this is kinda interesting for being mixed media on watercolor paper that was attached to a hunk of masonite with acrylic soft gel, a technique someone had suggested to me and which I thought sounded kinda interesting. The fact that it didn't twist and buckle like a whipped worm made me very happy. It's 18 x 24, prints available, original for sale, etc, check [link] for all the gory details.

EVERYONE should have someone to tell them to paint more pangolins. It should be printed on our money.

OMG Your hilarious and a great artist at the same time!! That's Killa KOOL!! I like the fact that u drew a Pangolin too--Everyone neglects those poor beasties, I don't even think most people know what they are. I'm glad to meet someone besides me who does though. Anyways, I would love it if u stopped by my gallery sometime. I also have a bit of a funny cartoony animal style, although I'm kinda trying to avoid doing animals so I can get better at humans and other things of the non-critter nature! Anyways, I think I'm gonna but u on devwatch!!

The textures of the wall and animals look great, but the hammock and glass don't look as realistic as the rest. (the glass doesn't appear to be transparent). Like the bracelet.

Your playfulness and originally never cease to amaze me. Also, it is so interesting this new technique that you tried. I think it works very well. Little details, like the angle of the stick and how lone of the lovebirds is perching on top of it really makes this piece work. Keeps it from looking too symetrical. Nice work!

It seems you really fell in love with those concrete backgrounds, eh? This one's not as concrete-ish as in that chameleon frog piece, but it's just about right as well...

Once upon a time -- I nearly said "Once upon a midnight dreary"; I've been thinking too much of ravens recently! -- I started writing a tale of a little girl and her armadilloes (Alphonse, Aloysius, Albrecht, Algernon, and Bob). As with so many of my writing efforts, it fizzled -- but it does occur to me that perhaps Bob was a pangolin rather than an armadillo. It would certainly explain a few things (and may yet kickstart the tale.) Of course, Bob was nowhere near as relaxed as this guy -- but perhaps that was because he did not have his hammock with him...

Seriously though, what could be better on a warm summer's afternoon, than curling up in your favourite hammock with a nice cool glass of lime cordial and your favourite book, with a couple of lovebirds to keep you company? I'm envious. True, "curling up" is somewhat par for the course if you're a pangolin, and this particular hammock would do nasty things to your spine if you were not a pangolin, but even so...

One question, however: what do pangolins read? :D
