Habenero Slug by ursulav Habenero Slug by ursulav
The habenero slug produces a hot 'n spicy slime coating sufficient to deter most predators. Unfortunately, in recent years, the habenero slug has become highly prized as a spice, and are kept in small terrariums and 'milked' regularly. Since the slugs require highly specific mating conditions, (proper phase of the moon, great heat, and a suitable chili bog) they are nearly impossible to breed in captivity and are growing increasingly rare in the wild.

Acrylic, 5 x 7. Smallest of the Weird Fruit so far. The original is for sale! Drop a note...

OMG! I absolutely LOVE this one! It's soooooooooo awesome! And I absolutely love the little story-thing that goes with it! It's very descriptive and neat and I like that you talk about them as if they actually exist! Again, AH-MAZING WORK! :excited:

The slug's cute! Too bad they're becoming extinct... I love the highlights on the slug and the trail of slime. Great painting!

Bwahahahahaa... Milking slugs!!!!! I'd give my favourite gummibear for seeing how they do that.... Lovely done and thought! Btw, have you ever tried writing stories? And I don't mean the comics. Actual stories. Because I adore your style with words, too.

It's beautifully detailed. The lemon one is still my favorite though so far :)

The weird fruit might possibly be the best thing ever. Sure it's not toliet paper or air, but it's damn near important enough. It's just wonderful.

May the Fruit be with you.
Oh, I'm going to have to hit myself for that. :stupidme:

Spicy food addict approves.

Then you have the rarer, even more prized relative of the habanero slug, the chocolate habanero slug, which hasn't been seen in the wild for decades and appears to be survived by a mere handful of individuals in captivity. Choco-slug advocates have been working tirelessly to reintroduce them to the wild, but so far their efforts have been in vain.

The colours. Dear Heavens, the colours. I can't stop thinking in pepper when I look at it. You really kick butt when giving out the description. It makes me giggle! =)

I kept thinking that it was a walking vegetable. Not a very pepper-like slug. :D

I like this pic of all of your fruit creatures because it's the most unusual and ironic. I can imagine people getting burned once they touched the slime from it.

I think this one has the most humorous description yet.. especially the mating conditions. :giggle: I really love the colors you've used on the slug and the way you've painted the slime trail.

Very impressive. I've never thought about how much slugs and peppers look alike! It is uncanny! I wonder how many "slugs" I've gone out and poured salt on, unaware of the fact that it was just a pepper, and how many "peppers" I have eaten,....well nevermind.
Anyway... again, awesome job with the details, especially on the rocks. I love the way you do rocks, they are so mildly realistic. My favorite part about this one is the awesome colors and they way you combined them to make it look twisted and warped like a regular pepper. Especially the green that is mixed in among all the yellow. That is very hard to do. The slime trail behind the slug looks really cool. Really looks like slime, especially near the bottom. This whole piece looks great. I love it.
Sorry I haven't been commenting for a while, I've been pretty busy, and I've always been sort of afraid you won't even notice, judging by how many comments you get every day, but I've been watching, and laughing out loud at all of your paintings! This is almost exactly what I go for in my paintings! (not EXACTLY, like combining fruit and animals, but the humor is my biggest goal)
I'll look forward to seeing more from you, as always. Good luck!

Despite living in the Southwest, habaneros are too hot for me, so I'll leave the poor little slugs alone if I ever see them in the wild. :) Cute little thing!

When you started with the pears, those were great, and everything up until this one has been pretty entertaining, but this - for some reason, this is the one that makes me giggle the most. It's a pepper... that's a slug! It's stem are little eyestalks! Ehehehe!

And I don't even like slugs. ^^;
