It's funny what sparks creation sometimes...

Awhile back, when we all did that question meme thing where RORY HUNTINGDON got introduced, it was fun and while I liked her I wasn't sure what kind of legs she had beyond the joke of the story(ies) in which she appeared.

Well, over the last few months I've been re-thinking STEEL WOLF's non-superheroic life. Like, since he and Auren are no longer working with the United Nations as agents, what are they doing? I've mentioned in one of my recent cover mock-ups that they've returned to their home in VANCE CITY, so I decided to build something for them there. And lo, and behold Rory came back to mind.

When I showed off Steel Wolf's civilian identity, someone mentioned that he looked like he'd be a bartender. I liked that idea. So I took it and ran with it. I thought it would be a neat way for Alexi to stay in touch with humanity aside from depending on his wife to be his touchstone. So they used their savings to buy a bar located in the ground floor of the MEME Magazine building called The Bullpen. From there, they not only get to relate to "normal" folks, but the staff from the magazine routinely come down for some R&R, and they sometimes pick up on some interesting information they can use.

Which brings us back to Rory. So along with her, every good reporter needs an editor, so I created a character named Martin Kelly. An old school newsman, he's not exactly comfortable in this new multimedia world, but he has decades of experience managing both a successful newspaper as well as a magazine. And Rory needs a partner too, and so Kelli Cunningham was born. He's her photographer as well as the main media guy for the Magazine, handling the stuff that makes Martin Kelly's head spin.

So expect to see them pop up from time to time in pictures (and potentially stories), and I'll be needing visuals at some point for both the main MEME Building as well as the Bullpen bar itself.
