I received this surprise last night while speaking with Mitch. He said that typically before he begins a project, he likes to do warm-ups on sketch cards. And since he had just read some posts by me about playing the DCUOnline game, this popped into his head. And it's awesome!
But a disclaimer: As a general rule, I detest it when people pit their OCs against established characters with the intent to show how tough they are, or to raise their standing at the cost of "mainstream" characters. I find it disrespectful, distasteful, and pretentious. That doesn't include stuff like normal team-ups, or when the characters are shown battling with no clear winners (typical comic cover fare). No, I hate it when you're using an established name to show off your own guy. But this was entirely Mitch's sketch, so I'm just more than thrilled with his generosity.
