Since
did that amazing pic for me, I decided to play with a couple color options for the character. My reasoning for the presented colors are as follows...
Version 1: My initial thoughts with this were that he wore the same basic uniform as other Russian soldiers, albeit with some minor modifications. The advantage with this is that he wouldn't necessarily stand out from his fellows, making it both more difficult for the enemy to discern him from everyone else as well as keeping the attitude that he was no different than his fellows.
Version 2: A more iconic coloration that would hearken to traditional Soviet colors. In this, he serves as more of a symbol and rallying point in combat, drawing the lion's share of attention from the enemy due to his bright costume, allowing regular soldiers to potentially get the drop on the enemy while they're focused on him. It also could serve as a reason why the current Steel Wolf's costume has the colorscheme it does aside from honoring the flag.
Thus far, version 2 seems to be the favored version. I like it as well, but I was curious as to what everyone else thought.

Golden Age Steel Wolf definitely seems Soviet in design, but is the modern Steel Wolf communist too or just a Russian Superman-like hero?
