Loved doing this cover for Red Sonja #27! It's featured in the Spectrum 16 art book.
She's beautiful, and the last thing you'll ever see!
Love the art on this one. Perspective, the coloring and how only the blood and her hair stand out. One of my top 5 female comic characters.
I had to set this as the background on my android for a while. Great reminder of awesomeness.
Killer tones and wash!!
Greatness love the perspective angle 😍 😍 😍
One of the best if not the best cover work of Red Sonja!
Loving the perspective.
The colors and her look is also transporting a mood.
This is fantastic. I love angle and choice of colors, just beautiful.
Truly amazing work, Dan; I'm in awe of your talent. Your work is fantastic. Having recently finished a novel (a Dark Comedy) I was very sad - VERY SAD - to discover that you don't do commissions. Gutted, in fact. How I would have loved a cover in comic-book style drawn by you! Grrrr (Picture me shaking my head and sighing.)
This image sure tricks you into thinking of depth and perspective, nice!
This is just fantastic! It's sharp and the effect lingers! Beautiful work
Your work has such intense perspective, in this case, the vantage point of the slain. Great works you have
You are such an epic artist, I love your work
Fantastic cover, sir!
This is amazing work! Props to you my friend! xD
..... AND please tell me you used some kinda' reference for this shot!!! this kinda' foreshortening kicks my arse ALL the time!!!
I drew this cover nearly 5 times. The first time I found a photo I liked, but with most photos, you can't be too literal with them or they don't translate. Particularly on women for some reason. By comic book standards the waists are always too thick and the legs are rarely long enough, etc. And of course, the heads are always too big. Also, what looks good in a photo doesn't always look good from an illustration standpoint. So... I kept redrawing it. Even Ron Garney did a pass on the figure... Finally, I put it away for a few months and then attacked it with fresh eyes - and that's what you see here.
YEEEES!!!! good to know such an awesome piece kicked your butt the first few times!!! .... I feel a little better now! hahaha ... very very cool piece Dude, I love the little choices you made, as you and I know, the margin for error when it comes to girl foreshortening is damn small!
That's a nice view there....
nice! not sure about the pinky though
Love the hair!
That's sick! I love it!
