it's definitely on the rough side -- one day i'm going to have to do a fully-rendered piece just to see whether i can actually do one, haha. the main thing i need to work on is organizing my tone values better, and starting to develop my color selection. i always forget about the backlighting -- it usually does wonders for the lighting!
i'm trying out the schoolism/bobby chiu method of doing the whole pic in grayscale first, then adding some colorize/overlay magic to get the final colors. i know traditionalists really frown on this method, but unfortunately since i'm a late starter i have to take any shortcut i can to catch up. but while i think i have an idea on how to organize tone/value, i have no idea how to organize colors. if you have any suggestions on where to learn, please let me know!
