To Submit Your Art
To the Club Collection:

  • If you have Ultra Fractal art that you would like to add to our club collection, please send us a note.
  • To make our job easier, please include a thumbnail of the deviation you would like to submit.
To add a thumbnail to your note:
Open the deviation from your gallery. On the right hand side under the deviation, you will notice a box with 'Thumb' above it. Copy the code which is in the box and paste that into your note.

Another way to include the thumbnail in your note is to click on the "Share This/Blog It" button found on the left of the deviation, then select the "Send it in a Note" option. Choose =Ultra-Fractal from your list of Friends, add any text you want and send.
Submission Guidelines

  • All work should be created in Ultra Fractal.  We have changed our submission rules to allow Mixed Media Ultra Fractal artwork.  New features in UF 5 have made it possible to incorporate non-fractal elements in UF work, and the club rules are evolving with the capabilities of the program.  Artwork submitted to the club should have dominant or obvious Ultra Fractal elements and will be accepted  in club submissions at the discretion of staff.  Please don't hesitate to send us a note with any UF mixed media pieces you would like us to see.
  •
  • You may submit work for the club collection as often as you like.  However, we suggest that you should only submit pieces you take some pride in, as our collection is meant to be a showcase of the best efforts of all of our members.  We won't pass any judgment on work that is added to the general collection, but will select exceptional work for features in club updates and news articles.

  • We are now only submitting helpful Ultra Fractal Resources and Tutorials as deviations to the club gallery.  If you have a great resource or tutorial that you would like to have submitted as a deviation on the club account, please send us a note.

About submitting fractals. What if I've got a fractal made with UF but only the text is added to it with Photo Shop? Can I post it or not.You have declared that only fractals made in UF can be posted to your gallery, so my example [link] was somehow modified in PS but I didn't changed the fractal appearance I have only added the text to it.

Actually since we're accepting Mixed Media work you can add or manipulate as much as you want in Photoshop and it's fine as long as there are still obvious or dominant UF elements in the work. Even traditional media work incorporating UF is fine with me.

I just require that UF be used somewhere in the creation process, for obvious reasons. :)

[link] for example, is very heavily manipulated and mixed with other digital media, but is fine for a club submission by my rules.

Congratulations Trystianity ! You are giving more exposure to the UF club :w00t: I have not posted much as I don't have any works worth showing made in UF, will try to see if reviewing the tutorial I can come up with something reasonable.
But then I might not be a member anymore, can't remember when I posted anything in the gallery. :( :cries:

Just to clarify something; are you stating through this journal that a UF fractal which incorporates an image in it (whether as an inside algo making it part of the fractal shape/texture itself, or a main pixel picture as part of the fractal) is classified as mixed media? (If so, does that mean that older fractals using the likes of Bring it In should also have been classified as MM?)

Thanks..

For the purposes of the club at least, yes I consider them mixed media. They're Fractal Art + Photomanipulation. The old rule was 80% fractal (not sure how that's calculated  but anyway...). I'm just taking a more relaxed attitude toward it.

UF did have image import with Bring it In before, but now that it's built-in and easily accessible I expect we'll be seeing a lot more of it. I would like the club to reflect everything that can be done with UF as a tool. I can't see any reason to exclude mixed media work, whether it's mixed in-program or with other applications. :)

OK; would you say then that such fractal art should be uploaded into a mixed media gallery and not into fractal art, even though it is all made in the one program?

(I'm not out for debate, just want to be clear on what your thinking is, whether or not I agree - that isn't what's important :))

That's a better question for the dA Gallery Moderators than me. :)

Only wondered what your own ideas were, as if a fractal were posted in digital mixed media gallery, I wondered if on submitting it to the group whether it would still be accepted?

There was talk of having a new category within fractal art for mixed media fractal art, which would I suppose be more appropriate for this kind of thing. Don't know whether they've included this yet, but other than that I know from the gallery descriptions where most thing would go. It was more a case of what was accepted by you for the group, that was all.

I did a couple of these so-called mixed media fractals a while back, but just posted them in fractal art, because there was no other appropriate category. Since then, I've come to the conclusion that I don't particularly like incorporating images in any case, so my own fractal work is purely made up from whatever is within the program and formulas provided.

The question is really one that needs clearing up, though, for the sake of other members I'd have thought...

Yes, we would still accept it. I'm not concerned with which dA gallery work is uploaded to.

I don't see why we really need a category for mixed fractal art. dA has a digital mixed media category already, and I don't think work with fractals should be separated. Mixed/manipulated 3D work is not separated.

I have mixed work in my gallery, and it's uploaded to Digital Mixed Media. If using images or other non-fractal techniques is the best way to accomplish what I have planned for the final piece, I use them without any hesitation or apology. I'm more concerned with art, the end result, not technical specifics. If my idea is best done with formulas and algorithms, I use those. If it's best done with something else, I use something else.

No, I agree! I don't see the need for another mm gallery inside fractal art either. It would in any case just cause further miscats.

I also totally agree with you about what brings about the best end results :) Although I'm not a purist as such, I do love the challenge that's involved in trying to achieve everything inside one program. That may change with time...

Thanks for your reply. :)

Another way to include the thumbnail in your note is to click on the Share This/Blog It button found on the left of the deviation, then select the "Send it in a Note", choose =Ultra-Fractal from your "Friends" and add whatever text you want and send. :)
