Inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's novel The Two Towers: Book IV chapter II, "The Passage of the Marshes".

I'm reading the books for the first time (I saw the movies first and I kept wishing there were more hobbits, hahah), and I just wanted to say how awesome your art is! I like the movies, but now I'm seeing them as two different stories, if you catch my meaning. ;)

I think it's great how much attention you pay to the scenery and everything, because that's what Tolkien seems to write a lot about! Anyhow, it's a really beautiful painting and exactly how I pictured it, plus more awe.

Haa, I never imagined the faces being so much larger than the hobbits'. *shudder* Thank you for bringing up the feeling of reading this :D It's one of my favourite parts in the books.

:D The size of the faces are actually a little mistake I made - I meant to have some sort of distorted perspective where the foregroud seems bigger, but I didn't do it properly which makes the faces seem huge. But it's okay, I don't mind them that way either!

Thanks so much for commenting. Much appreciated! :)

Ahh, I see :D
It's pretty believable anyway. I think Tolkien said at some point that hobbits have been becoming shorter/smaller lately. Maybe the same is true for elves :)

I meant "remind me of", not "bring up". My English doesn't function very well before coffee.
