Species is a franchise consisting of four feature films, first created in 1995, starring Natasha Henstridge as the iconic and infamous Sil. Though the films have sort of slipped into obscurity and is more of a niche franchise with a decline in quality per film, the first and second hold a special place in my heart, in a very weird guilty pleasure kind of way. Its influence and lost potential really sticks with me and despite its rather eroticism and over the top violence, I still think there is a place for this franchise to succeed in the future and its legacy continue in one way or another. So I have taken it upon myself to create a hypothetical soft-reboot that continues the Species movies (right after the third film).

The new story is set roughly 100 years in the future on a remote planet said to be the origin of the Species. It follows Maya, one of three genetically modified human-alien hybrids using the same DNA that was once used to create the infamous Sil. As she develops into maturity, she is suddenly haunted by strange visions as her alien nature drives her to mate with a potential male, but due to her nurtured ways she constantly resists the temptations. With the aid of her eventual lover Hans Chapman, the psychic empath Sam and her surrogate mother Dr. Katrina Hendricks, Maya is faced with a dilemma that will determine the fate of her, her sisters and her friends. Does she follow her destiny set fourth by her alien instincts or does she have the strength to follow her own path and become more human? It becomes a two part story, a personal struggle between Nature vs Nurture, Destiny vs Free Will, the Hubris of both humans and the Species and the Transcending Love beyond instinct.

I hope to use this story I've created to hopefully rejuvenate the series in a mature way as it respects the original movies and give it the proper closure it deserves and build upon its mysterious mythos. So in honour and celebration of the franchises for reaching its 30th anniversary, I've dedicated this page to show off my Original Characters in a brand new duology called Species: New Age and Species: Transcendence. I will also dedicate this page to some fan art of the original movies once in a while.
