More Affordable Jewellery

I would love my jewellery to be more affordable. Sadly, after taking off all the fees, taxes, supplies and other costs pure income is maybe half of what customers are paying. But I still think more people should be able to afford something nice every now and then, so I decided to make some simpler pendants, that don’t involve so much supplies and require less time to complete. So here’s a batch of pendants. They’re all €35 plus shipping. Enjoy! Available here.

I so understand.  I don't make anything off of anything I sell ... and at my last vending event I made less expensive things and was still unsuccessful.  I'm about ready to throw in the towel except for the fact that I have so many supplies.  At least you make sales, your Etsy shows that.  I'm not renewing my Etsy stuff... I don't get ANY traffic there, my storenvy site gets more tho lately I've not been able to put time into things so everything is stagnant.  But I've been doing this since 2006/8 *(break because of brain surgery) and I've not even gotten remotely close to your number of sales.  Granted it is a different style but if even strangers are saying they like my stuff then it can't be that bad, but I'm beginning to wonder.  :(  You have GORGEOUS stuff.  And I would pay for the higher priced stuff because it is worth it and because I DO know what it is like to want to get paid for your time and effort.  Unfortunately, living on disability and not making sales of my own, I can't.  And no one is as disappointed about that as I am.  I've admired your stuff for a long time now.  And I will say this much, these cute pendants you have made here are wonderful, and I do hope that it allows some people to have something special.  :D

Recently I've not been able to put near the time into it all as I would like.  But hopefully soon I will.  I looked at the link you sent, actually I've looked into most all of the articles that Etsy and Storenvy put out also.  The way they say to price things, I most definitely would NEVER sell anything.  No one wants to pay for anything near that.  I don't really make much at all for my time.  The biggest thing is make more and find a way to get more "advertising".  Which for good advertising you have to spend money, which I do not have as a person who lives on disability.  I'm not sure where your majority of customers live.  But here.... people are stingy and want to pay Walmart prices for handmade quality items.  Anyways, it is nice to see that someone actually is successful at it, and your jewelry is well worth it!

I don't know your shop, but maybe you're approaching your business from the wrong direction? Here are some tips I've read to improve: www.handmadeology.com/10-real-…

I can't remember if I responded to you or if I just started to and then got distracted.   My approach has been somewhat lacking do to the fact that during the whole process I had a lot of physical crap going on and then a failing marriage, then a move, and more emotional crap and now another move.  However, when I finally get things unpack and in order I am hoping to start selling on a few other sites and maybe Amazon even.   I will look at your link and save it and when I get my head back on where it belongs now that my life is beginning to level out, I look back at it.  :)  Thanks a bunch for the advice and help!

It's the curse of handmade jewelry and other art: if you really charged all the time spent on it, no one can buy it. It doesn't help that I'm an inveterate bargain shopper, so when I'm pricing my stuff I'm saying to myself, I wouldn't pay that much! ;-)

Some lovely pieces, I'll take a closer work when I get off work!
