Chapter 18
Dream?
I couldn’t breath. I stared at the figure standing there, hoping against hope that I wouldn’t wake up. That this wasn’t the best dream I’d had in weeks. That my Steven really was there, standing before me.
“Steven?” I whispered; that was all I could manage.
The head of the figure looked up, and stared into my eyes. I knew then that this wasn’t a dream. No dream could accurately mimic those eyes, those beautiful pools of undying love.
“Nick?”
I jumped into his arms and clung to him tightly, hugging him and crying into his shoulder. I couldn’t believe it; I had my Steven back in my arms. His strong arms wrapped around my form, nuzzling into my shoulder. I could hear his soft sobs matching my own.
“Steven,” I said in barely a whisper, “I’ve missed you so much.”
All the sadness that had been building up in my soul evaporated instantly in that embrace. I held my light closely to my body and cried into his shoulder. There was only one time that I had been happier than this and that was when he asked me to go out with him.
“Oh god Nick, I never thought I'd see you again. I was so lost without you. I could barely manage to do anything while you were gone. If it weren't for Ban dragging me out here I would still be couped up in his apartment.”
I cocked my head curiously at him, “You know Ban?”
“Yea, do you?”
“Well, not technically he's a friend of a friend. He's friends with the guy that drug me out here actually.” I wrapped my arms around him again and held him tightly to me, lest he disappear before my eyes.
“I love you Steven,” I whispered into his ear softly, kissing his cheek.
“I love you too Nick, so much. I never want to lose you again, never.”
We walked paw in paw back into the bar towards our talking friends; Steven was the first to speak.
“Ban, this is my light,” he said in a soft tone, a smile on his face.
The dragon looked over at me and smiled the softest smile I've ever seen come close to how wonderful Steven's looks.
“Ah,” he replied, “So, you're the one. You have a wonderful guy there Nick, hang on to him.”
I squeezed Steven's paw in mine and nodded, “I plan on never letting him go.”

The long awaited chapter 18, our two lovers are reunited. I see great things in their future, and a couple of surprises too.
This is a very short read, for a couple of reasons. I wanted to get something up here, and honestly didn't know where else to go with this chapter. I also wanted to devote a single chapter to the reunion of these two love birds. They deserve it.
Happy reading and more on the way!
