Welcome to Ubuntu Artists

Ubuntu is amazing for creating artworks and this group is for sharing your amazing works done in, about and for Ubuntu. As well as accepting artworks for display, we also provide help with Ubuntu and any free software art tool (see below) as well as links to guides and periodically competitions in conjunction with the larger Ubuntu community.

Keep up to date with important news and announcements from the Ubuntu community.

We also have a special Ubuntu Art Community which is the place to go if you're interested in making Art for Ubuntu; such as wallpapers, themes, icon packs and having them included into Ubuntu directly.

Fellow Artists and Designers,

I'm here in Liepzig, Germany for Libre Graphics Meeting 2014 libregraphicsmeeting.org/2014/

It's a meeting of all the Free Software graphics projects. Developers from Gimp, Inkscape, Blender... well everyone. And we're here to talk about the state of our tools and how we can drive these projects towards a more consistent and interactive result.

There's been some really good talks on the first day and if you're interested in any on the program, please do watch the videos of the talks or post a message here and I'll tell you all about them. The guys from Magic Latern got cheers and several ovations for their work on getting Canon SLRs to perform outstangingly with a drop in replacement software for the camera itself. and this is great, Libre graphics isn't just about the software on your computer, but also about the software on your cameras, phones and other artistic tools. These guys are proving how powerful control over your hardware can be.

There was also a good talk from the ColorHug guys who make open hardware spectrometers so you can colour correct your screens. I have one of these myself and they're really cheap for what they do for you. Keeping your LCD corrected can be hard work without the hardware, so to hear there'll be a second version is exciting. They'll put together a kickstarter to get the hardware manufactured and I'm going to post the news here so you guys can get your hands on one of these awesome tools.

I'll be here until Sunday so if you have any particular thing you'd like to ask of the developers for your fravorite tool, comment below or send me a message!

Martin,

I have a question, I know Zorin OS 9 is only a small part of Ubuntu, and this group is for ubuntu users only, but I have a current issue I need help with.

On my computer I originally have Windows 7, then I installed Zorin OS 9 beside Win.7, but now I want to replace Zorin OS 9 with Ubuntu, followed instructions on doing so, but nothing....

If I set Win.7 back to factory setting, will it also get rid of Zorin OS 9, so I can start fresh with installing Ubuntu along side Win. 7? :?  Or will it still remain....?
