Shoutout to every jumper who just wanted to run a map, that's just sat down and explained to me and some other baby jumpers how to complete a jump map.

This got me curious if anyone still has the original Rocket Jumper model, or if it got lost when Valve updated it.

The original sticky jumper is definitely still in my files, I didn't see the original rocket jumper model though. Might be lost in the regular files, otherwise I didn't see it or it was backed up by somebody else.

Maybe it's out there somewhere.

Can you teach me how to jump?

I'm not qualified to teach anybody to jump compared to the people who run the Tempus servers or Jump Academy, as well as tutorials by people like Mouse and Nate Fox on Youtube, but here's a few basics everybody should know or try to learn:

1) when you shoot your rocket, crouch and hit space bar (crouchjump) at the same time, this is mandatory for basic rocket jumping
2) get familiar with being in control of your movement like steering your character with your mouse as well as strafing with A/D. This will help your movement a lot in the air
3) avoid holding W when jumping (for the most part, there are exceptions e.g. wallclimb), it's a hard habit to break but it'll make sense the more you use A/D
4) rather than looking behind you to rocket jump, learn how to flick your mouse back so your character looks for less than a second behind, shoot, and then immediately flick so you look back forward
5) lower-aimed jumps gives height and distance, level-aimed jumps against the wall give speed and momentum. practice both using the ground and the wall to jump to figure out when each works best
6) practice, practice, practice! if you get stuck on a jump map, there's a lot of videos or a jumpbot/player that can show you how to do the jump from their POV. you'll never learn if you give up early!

Jump Academy has sold itself on being the rocket jump training school, but grinding on any server such as jump.tf or Tempus usually has people also doing the same thing you're doing who want to give a hand. Jumpers gotta jump!

Ngl people on jump maps seem to generally be the kindest most patient people ever and they do deserve a shoutout indeed.

Great poster as always.

It always made me nervous but warmed my heart when people also doing the jump would wait for me to finish my jump, or come back and show me how to do it. Later on, it was cool to watch the pros and learn what sort of advanced techniques they would do and try to learn from watching as well as asking.

Glad you like it, thank you! :D
