Vickers Export Design 1074X for Australia by Tzoli Vickers Export Design 1074X for Australia by Tzoli
This is one of the Vickers export designs offered to any nation who wished to acquire new ships but cannot built it's own.
Design 1074X was the 3rd (to my knowledge) of the 1074 export series of heavy cruisers. 1074 was the same as this design in every aspect, probably the difference was the arrangement of engines and non-main armaments on 10.000tons and was probably offered to Spain among others. 1074C was the same hull but with only 4 twin 8" guns again on 10.000tons.
1074X the drawing you see is offered to Australia but it was probably offered to Japan as well is the same as plain 1074 but on 10.160tons. The hull is flush deck with a high forecastle and rising aft, not reminiscent of the Counties then under development but more of a mix between Hawkins (Long sleek lines) and the Counties (Flush Deck, ship size and engine arrangement). The original sketch drawing was rather empty so I have added a catapult with seaplane and County (York) type bridge structure.

The designs had these characteristics:
Dimensions: 179,83 (pp) 190,5 (wl) 191,72 (oa) x 19,5 x 5,33m
Displacement: 10.160tons (standard)
Armour: unknown but probably 25mm deck and belt over machinery and over magazines
Engines: 115.000shp Parson Steam Turbines, 4 shafts
Speed: 64km/h (34,5knots)
Armaments:
3x3 8"/50 (203mm) BL Mk VIII Guns,
4x1 4,7"/43 (120mm) QF Mk VII DP-AA Guns,
2x4 12,7mm/60 MG Mk III AA Guns
4x3 622mm Torpedo Tubes
1x Supermarine Seagull Seaplane

Based on this original sketch drawing found in the Yuzuru Hiraga archive:

Since previous one is modified Hawkins, this one should be County and latest is Kent.

Looks (so far) like a cross between the Australian Cockatoo CA design and the British 'Counties' as built, except for the flush deck. Waiting to see what the 'finished product' will be
