Los Angeles, the City of Angels, the most populous city in California and the largest in the Western United States, serving as a melting pot of commercial, cultural, and financial. It is the entertainment capital of world due to the movie industry, Hollywood and World-Class Beaches along the coastlines. Beyond the glitz and celebrity lifestyle, the city is famous for its perfect Mediterranean climate, sprawling urban layout, and rich cultural diversity. The area that became Los Angeles was originally inhabited by the indigenous Tongva people and later claimed by Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo for Spain in 1542. The city was founded on September 4, 1781, under Spanish governor Felipe de Neve, on the village of Yaanga. It became a part of the First Mexican Empire in 1821 following the Mexican War of Independence. In 1848, at the end of the Mexican–American War, Los Angeles and the rest of California were purchased as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo and became part of the United States.
