"It ain't what it used to be", Sebastian can once recall his father telling him as the cowl was passed on from father to son. How had times changed from silly to gritty? But times are different now, another three years passed since the downfall of Lilarc and Doctor TNA. The manor was destroyed and Heron, Oriole, Lady Midnight, and the Sons of Heron relocated their operations in a small modern mansion on the shores of a lake, some ways past the original site of the mansion that was destroyed as well as the original Heron's Nest. A new base was created underneath this newer mansion, it was quiet. Down into the nest, the display that stored the costume of the Heron was taken.
At Empire City, some police were pursuing a man running off with a purse. The sirens blared as the cars were driving after him, but then he had run into a dead end. "Bang!" was the last sound he'd ever heard but instead, he heard a snap as a tall, brooding figure made quick work on the cops that were after the man before disappearing into the night. The morning after, the photos taken last night had gone viral as the morning news stations had made coverage. At the police headquarters, the commissioner Eliana Russo was walking down the halls as she was met a lady dressed in a suit, she introduced herself to the commissioner, "Commissioner Russo? Alannah Stevens, it's a great pleasure working with you. The mayor has hired my firm to represent the city's PR. We think it's best for the mayor is the status remains quo. He'll be speaking to a few media outlets and wants to make sure that you and he are both on the same page."
"And that is?" she responded
"This one" the lawyer responded as she showed Russo a piece of paper
"Yadda, yadda, yadda" she read aloud, "Like Commissioner Russo said, Empire City takes its perceived threat of vigilantism seriously but with a grain of salt... I didn't say this"
"That may be true" Alannah responded, "But when opportunity knocks...."
It was then the commissioner was met with a crowd reporters, all of them getting her words on Heron's reappearances, for a couple of seconds was silence until she said as she closed the door behind them, "...No Comment".
Meanwhile, in the rainy jungles of South America, an amber-haired woman with mocha-coloured skin sporting a bronze breastplate, a Roman-era battle skirt reaching down to her knees, bronze plated boots and a tiara with puma ears. She has an infant in a basket behind her back was taking a run down a clearing until she was met with tribesmen cowering from a tall, menacing, hideous beast. This monster stood at almost ten feet tall if it walked upright, but it was on all fours like a modern-day gorilla, this beast sported horns and blood red eyes. It had let out a loud hiss as it started to attack the woman. People like her were the light in the dark when people are threatened, people like her are there and called saviours... until they're called threats. A hundred, hundred times, they know that and are still there for them. The woman brandished out her sword and had soon slain the beast, she then heard the tiny baby cry and she started to comfort him, "There there, my boy. Dry those tears, it's alright. The nightmare is over. The world is safe again..."
Soon, they reached civilization as they entered through the city's walls. She was greeted by her people, one of them said to her, "Welcome back, Kileyna. I trust your stroll was-"
"Wonderfully pedestrian" She finished.
Another woman offered to take the boy from her to make sure he's safe, Kileyna then walked along saying, "I have a training session at the arena scheduled with K’yslal..."
"K’yslal?" One of them responded, "She's gone"
All Kileyna could think after hearing that was "Again?"
Meanwhile, on the northern reaches of the Earth. A young woman was descending down into an old abandoned fortress that is made out of ice. After opening the large, iron door. she entered inside as she started to speak, "So I was wondering. I mean, not to anybody other than myself but-"
Going deeper into the complex, she hovered past various souvenirs as she continued, "All these artifacts and objects, I was told that they were important. That they were parts that meant something that defined the whole... But what I don't understand is, am I a piece of that part? Or the whole?"
She then stopped at the frozen body of a black-haired man sporting a red suit and white cape, boots, and trunks. She started to tear up, "Why did you let the ants knock you from the sky? Is there anything I can do?"
It was then she heard a noise coming from outside the cave, It was the opening of a portal. Later that evening, down in Empire City atop of the police headquarters. Commissioner Russo was resting on the ledge with a flask in hand, she was thinking to herself, "How did we let this happen? How did we let our distractions become our focus? When did we stop thinking...? I used to think it couldn't change without me. Guess who changed?"
Then a policeman came up to the roof, saying they got him. Russo then finished her thoughts as she left, "You shouldn't have come back"
Afterwards, several police cars are in pursuit of what appears to be Heron himself, driving a motorcycle. He was about to lose them was there were more cars coming in front of him. He then turned to his left through an alleyway where he took out his grappling hook gun and fired the hook in an attempt to get a high point. Then, as the police came out of the cars and followed him into the alley. The figure then jumped down and started to make quick takedowns on the policemen.
But soon he got overwhelmed as several policemen started to beat at him with their nightsticks, shortly after, one person stopped and said before he got punched in the face, "Fellas, this is a-"
Then it was down to Russo and Heron, they exchanged a few blows before Heron fell from exhaustion. To Russo's surprise, it wasn't the Heron she was expecting; this one was a girl. Russo then asked the woman, "Where is he?"
"He is dead" The other responded.
