i totally forgot about this..
3 years ago i was scrollin along on FB and NASA posted something about they needed artwork to send to space..
so i clicked the link to get info..
the spacecraft called OSIRIS-REx mission was to head to asteroid Bennu and study it and land on it, take samples and bring them back to earth.. sounds easy right? NASA wanted some artwork to be left behind on the asteroid..
so i submitted something in super high resolution 20 mins after their initial post..
it got accepted.. (one of my glass pieces featured in Designn magazine i think)
there was a limited amount of art to get in on the project i just happened to be at the right place at the right time.
this is the image i sent
3 years later i forgot about the whole thing..
FB reminded me of a post that i made tellin everyone to jump on this project..
so i went looking at the mission.. yep.. OSIRIS-REx is in orbit around asteroid Bennu..
and its got a lander attached..
and my artwork is on it in digital form..
currently 50 million miles away from earth,, or 85.5 million kilometers..
and when they get their sample in 2020 and try and bring it back home..
they are going to leave my artpiece on that asteroid..
