Description

Avtomaticheskaya Vintovka means automatic rifle in Russian. Used heavily by the Russian Union, it is an easily modifiable rifle, making it the staple of the Russian war machine. It is a very simple weapon to produce, and its internal workings and tight rifling help cause the rifle's high stopping power and semi-auto accuracy, but in full auto its difficult to control the recoil. It has a high rate of fire at 1000 rpm. It is frequently seen across the Contested Fields and on the Vistula Fortress Line. Due to the vast numbers of these rifles produced, it is not uncommon for it to be issued to entire divisions outside the Russian Union, notably the German-Polish Reich and the Scandinavian Union who both face constant invasions by the Russian Union. The AV's unique front sight alsoriflescopes as the sights for a grenade launcher, mostly the GP-50. Introduced in 2014 to replace the Kalashnikov series of rifles, the AV-97 has seen widespread use thoughout the world. Designed by Colonel-General Vladislav Maximovich Yashin since 1997, the Russian military was quickly impressed by the weapon. In 2015, they used units armed with these new rifles to stage a coup, replacing the Russian Federation with the militant Russian Union. With the USA collapsing along with NATO, the Russian Union used this weakness to invade Europe. While the AV-97 was highly effective, allowing the Russian military to conquer most of eastern Poland, the Baltics, half the Ukraine, and most of Finland. Belarus was spared, having joined the Union a few months earlier. Eventually the Russians were driven back to their current border, but Europe was changed forever.

The AV-97 is the most standard variant of these weapons. Developed to replace the AK's, the AV-97 has been widely praised for its stopping power. Uses the 7.62x39mm round.

The AV-98 was introduced to use the 5.45x39mm rounds used by the AK-74. Not as widely seen as the 97.

Used almost extensively by the elite Streltsy Guards, the AV-99 is chambered for the 7.62x54mmR. It is also used by snipers.

The AV-100 is chambered for the 5.56x45mm NATO round found in the M-16 and its derivatives. While not widely seen in Russian service, it is widely used by troops in the Scandinavian Union who have converted it to use local rounds. The Russian War Ministry nonetheless gave it this designation.

The AV-101 uses the 7.62x51mm NATO round. Widely used by the Russian Army and the German-Polish Reich for snipers and platoon commanders. Used in the Russian military due to it having great stopping power, and is slightly more easy to control then the AV-99.

AV-102 is chambered for the .50 BMG. A sniper rifle, the AV-102 is single shot, yet uses a 5 round mag. The weapon's operator has to manually extract the casing from its undersized ejector port. Commonly titled the "Oprichnina".
