Well your also my first critique so congradulations.
Yeah that fancy stuff at the top of the planet is aurora. This is the first time I've tried to add that effect and I think it turned pretty nice.
The glow around the sun is just supposed to be from the haze of the atmosphere. I know its a little over eggsaturated but as an artist i maintain the right to bend the laws of reality.
Nailed it. The Orion nebula is my favorite. Thanks to google earth I have a real nice picture of it which helped to inspire mine.
Yeah, I thought I stuck gold when I decided to put a guy painting in the picture. All old school like. Its probably hard to tell but I actually rendered out the scene in Terragen from the painters perspective to add the little extra bit of detail. I had actually started to put some foot prints in the ground around him but it didn't look right. I kind of got lazy around the end and never got back around to adding them.
As far as inspiration for the peice goes. I created the planet a while back. It itself was 6000x6000 and I was really happy with how it turned out. The terragen scene just seemed to come out so easily. I dont know, the whole peice just seemed to fall together really easy.
Thanks for the critique, I'm glad you like my work.
As for size and logo, art theft is actually a huge issue for me. You can find my art all over the place with my signature cropped off, color altered and rotated. Usually labled as free nasa images. Or being sold by some prick in China for stupid cheap. Since my art is also a paying job for me, I have to try and protect my images the best I can.
Art, specifically digital art isn't like music, where most people could rattle off a list of musicians. Unless you're an artist, you probably couldn't name 5 modern digital artist. With my name a noticeable part of the image it helps me gain exposure.
