Oh No! Strappado!
Back when I was young and stupid, I was set up for a bondage modeling session that included the following scenes: detective bondage chair-tie (ho-hum), a strict hogtie (oh boy! My favorite!), and a strappado.
I was too embarrassed to say I didn’t know what strappado meant, so I had to look it up…and when I did, I got scared out of my mind. Every definition I came across included the word torture right up front and mentioned the technique had been around since medieval times. Its intent: to punish the victim with intense pain by suspending him or her off the floor by wrists bound behind the back. Usually, a heavy weight tied to the feet was lifted off the floor along with the victim, insuring the dislocation of the shoulders.
Needless to say, I wanted to back out of the shoot. The rigger laughed when I told him why. “Honey, we don’t do it like that anymore,” he said, trying to reassure me. “Nobody’s getting lifted off
