Description
Patrick Troughton as the second Doctor Who, with Michael Craze as Ben Jackson, Frazer Hines as Jamie McCrimmon, and Anneke Wills as Polly Breckingham-Wright, inspired by her appearance in The Macra Terror.
Part of my WhoSprites animation project to animate lost Doctor Who episodes from the 1960s, starring Patrick Troughton and William Hartnell. Most characters are already fully animated and ready for lip sync editing. The project began in late 2007, and was featured in SFX Magazine, The Guardian and the Wired Blog.

The process -
I sketch the faces in ballpoint pen. I rework them digitally to match my reference photos more exactly.
Based on that, I draw the final faces in Sharpie or pigment pen [or both] on xerox paper.
Hair and non-face parts are drawn with a mouse in Photoshop.
Coloring is done in Photoshop using the reference photos as a very rough starting point.
