TMNT Movie Designs by Ty-Chou TMNT Movie Designs by Ty-Chou
I haven't thought about Ninja Turtles for a while. I got a little bored/disappointed with the TV show about when they went into space and eventually stopped watching altogether. (I might try to catch up now that it's over, though.) But I saw a DVD pack for the two live action movies on a Black Friday sale and thought why not.  And guys, those stupid entertaining movies got me thinking about turtles again. I had forgotten how much I loved how BIG they are compared to people.

So here's the designs of Leo and Donnie with marriage of the Out of the Shadows designs and my style. (I kind of adore drawing them with pants LOL) And of course, I had to do a design for human and lizard Mona Lisa because it's me and I must have a Mona Lisa for all occasions. It also got me fiddling with an old movie-related fic I started when the first movie came out. I will probably post it later this month because it has Christmas and New Years stuff in it. (And Mona Lisa, of course lol)

I loved Donnie's design in the Movie. Giving him glasses made my heart explode.
And yes Mona Lisa. Really hoping they include her if they ever get to making another one.

I am okay if Mona Lisa never shows up in the live action movies if there's another one. LOL

Though there IS a new TMNT cartoon in the works and I would love to see her there.

If I feel like it. I dunno. I liked Leo and Donnie's designs the most in the movies.

LOVE IT!!!

TBH, I didn't mind the TMNT movie designs all that much. Ok, Mikey & Raph could've been done a bit better, but I thought Leo and Donnie came out OK. I mean, I guess they were trying to do a "realistic" mutant turtle thing...meaning: nostrils.

Anyway, I LOVE these! You did a great job capturing the movie looks! <3

For me it was the mouths and the lips and the teeth. Like a trainwreck, I could not look away.

The freckles came to me as I was coloring her. Though they're pretty hard to notice.

I quite enjoyed the movies. My only nitpick about them was that they were called baby box turtles... And then they showed red-eared sliders. Very different turtle species with very different homes.

A hope for if they do a third movie: Add in Mona Lisa! It could be entirely possible, given how they added in Bebop and Rock Steady

Yes! I noticed that about the turtles, too. Oh well. I will honestly be okay if Mona Lisa never shows up in the live action movies.

This is good, Ty.^_^  Oh lord, I HATE the 2012 cartoon.  I couldn't even finish Season 1 because I hated how they were developing the turtles and April (don't even get me started on her.  I'm fine with her being a teenager, but I'm NOT fine with her being a pairing whore).  So yeah, I'll stick to the 2003 cartoon and hope that the 2018 reboot will be better.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who wasn't completely smitten with 2012. It had some good stuff, too, but my list of grievances is long and thorough.

I am SO ready for the next reboot. Knowing it will be traditionally animated instead of computer already makes me happy.

To be completely honest I havent seen either of those movies but I do wanna see them at some point just for the sake of completion??? And I do remember absolutely ADORING the designs on them. So detailed and gorgeous ahhh ;w; Your take on them is equally nice.
IDK. Maybe I'll go get the DVD's and watch them soon.

And yeah I'm kinda with you on the nick show as well...the problems with the writing in that show have irked me since episode one but I was able to tolerate it until about season 3. I just got so irritated and frustrated that I gave up and kept up with things ust through whatever the fandom was freaking out about online. IDK if I'll be able to pick it up again beyond that point because I tend to enjoy the space arcs but I havent heard good things... and I also know what happens to Splinter at the end which absolutely crushed me. The show pretty much became dead to me after that. I,D
I just...yeah..I have very mixed feelings about the nick show and it makes me sad that it went down the road it did. But I still at least try to enjoy the good things about it and whatever I dont like, I can change in fanfiction bc thats what fanon is for anyway. I,D

The turtle faces in the movie are horrifying. You kinda have to make peace with that and then it's all good. Just sit back and enjoy the noisy, silly time it is. I especially recommend the first one. There's actually quite a few good scenes.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who got a little fed up with the 2012 show. It really ran out of steam very fast and just limped along as far as it could go.

Yeahhhh that is part of the reason why I avoided it to be completely honest. I,D The way the faces were designed were a very poor choice... the "turtles look like shrek" memes didnt exactly help either bc my god once you see it you cant unsee it But I'm sure I'd get used to them after a while. And I do genuinely want to see the first one at least! If not purely for the elevator scene bc I remember seeing clips of that and thinking it was super cute.
I will see it eventually. I swear I will.

Yeah it really did. Like it became very obvious once they started recycling plots and creating pointless, unnecessary drama that it was going downhill fast. That kind of repetition and lazy writing gets so old after a while. It really irks me.
The writing was flawed to begin with imo and believe me I could rant about the flaws for days because they are such detrimental and stupid flaws but...yeah. It didnt take me long for me to just throw up my arms and walk away bc I couldnt deal with the stupidity anymore. The only thing that really made that show worth coming back to was Splinter, at least for me, but they tortured him to no end with no real reason to after the second season and it's like??? Why was this necessary? Who thought this was a good idea? Who made this decision? I just wanna have a chat.
Its all good. You're not alone, my dude.

I totally agree with you about Splinter. 2012 Splinter was best Splinter. I really, really liked what they did with him. His design was amazing. There were a few good things about the show, to be sure. There have been worse Ninja Turtle universes. But there have been better ones, too.

It’s so funny you posted this because I *just* re-watched ‘Out of the Shadows’ last night before hitting bed.  The secret to enjoying the two new live-action movies is just letting go of your turtle Nostalgia and enjoy the doofy ride.

I agree with you on the Nick show- I think the Space Arc was the weakest one.  The following season is better with several strong episodes, and the last season ( ‘Tales of the Ninja Turtles ) is utter garbage with the exception of the Usagi Yojimbo episodes.

And Ciro’s finale?  I turned it off about halfway through.  Maybe it’s because I was dealing with bad depression due to a change up in my medications, but the finale really upset me and I hated it.  Plus, scenes like using Casey Jones’ skull as a bomb was like, WTF Nick?

Bbbbbut onto the art.  I love your movie take on Mona!

I stopped watching a little after they got back from space. Shinigami was introduced and then I just couldn't do it any more. I didn't care what happened anymore. Though I do want to see the Usagi episodes cuz I love me that rabbit. I'll get around to it.

As for the movies, I just had to find my peace with the awkwardly ugly turtle faces and just accept it as is. I thought the designs for the second movie were better. But I LOVE the adrenaline scene in the first one. I could watch it so many times. It brings me so much glee. The fight down the mountainside was also pretty great.

On an unrelated note, I noticed there were some old BMFM episodes loaded on Youtube and I got to see Rocketh and Rideth again. I haven't seen it for years and I love that episode so much. I was so happy to watch it again. The dialog was great.

I don’t know if you saw my journal posting, but all 65 episodes are available in English now.  I posted a link to the download.

And I totally agree about the mountainside action scene in the first TMNT movie ( feels weird saying that- as New Line Cinema’s will always be the first to me ).  That is easily one of the best action scenes in *any* movie.

Yes, the original live action one is still the best. But there is some good stuff in the new one that makes it watchable despite ugly character designs and some stupidity in the story.

That is awesome about all the episodes! I wonder if my old computer can handle the download. I might have to wait until I get my new one.
