It's the eighteenth, which means that over on my regular blog, the collection of calls for entry listings has gone up! If you're interested in having your work (my collection is geared towards shows that accept jewelry, metalsmithing, and other crafts, but almost all the calls take traditional "fine arts" work as well) shown in galleries, you should check it out!

My friends, the life of a craftsman is no easy thing. Not because we rarely ever make back the time we put into a piece. (We don't.) Or because we have to compete with industry. (We'll never beat the price.)
These are givens. If you create, you face these things.
No, the real problem with being a craftsman is the whole hazy issue of crafts vs fine arts.
If you make ceramics, you're excused from this discussion. I hate you. Okay, not true. It just drives me crazy that you got lifted out of crafts and onto a level with fine arts.
