Notes from the Underground

The First 3 chapters of Dostoevsky's Notes From the Underground hand copied and collaged. This is pretty big probably about 36X50 inches.

The assignment was to deconstruct a book, But I choose to do so without physically using a book as the material because books are too precious to be destroyed. Even for Arts sake. So instead I choose to handcopy the text of the book, which was more meaningful and the process brought me even closer to the story than I previously was, so all in all, a very positive experience.

I LOVE THAT BOOK.
In reference to your comment on books being too precious to destroy even for art's sake, read If on a Winter's Night a Traveller by Italo Calvino.
