To Deviant Art Writers I just found out about something that I felt was important enough to immediately come and share with the community. I'm not expert in any aspect of this topic. These are just my thoughts and questions about what I just learned like 5 minutes ago.
Ok, so, the EU, responding to the nonsensical moral panic bubble created by the media, about AI, has enacted a law that requires that any piece of content that has been touched by AI, at any point in it's development, in any way whatsoever, has to be created with an invisible, permanent watermark.
The key words there are 'touched', 'at any point' and 'in any way whatsoever'. Why does this matter, why do I feel prompted (no pun intended) to talk about it?
When it comes to generative art tools I have no problem with acknowledging that I employ them in my work. I've been using digital art tools for decades, and gen AI is just the latest one in a rapidly evolving digital tool set.
