The antique shop always carried with it a smell. It was varnish, old paper, brass polish, dust spray, and above all else, stories. For Ty, the last one was the most important. Stories were what drew her to ask for the job in the first place, and in a way, stories were one of the few things she felt safe dealing with. She had gotten better with sales; she had even gotten her feet wet doing something Kane called “Picking.” In fact, she now had enough confidence in herself to work the cash register.
