Agent Horne: Tell me your story, sir. Start with the streetlight.
Mr. Vale: It was not there before. That’s the part I need you to understand.
I know that road. I have driven it since I was sixteen. Route ██, past the old mill, left at the church with the broken bell, straight through the low fields where the fog collects. There are no houses there. No driveways. No power lines close enough for a streetlight. So, when I saw one standing at the crossroads, I slowed down.
