Meet Dusk Bringer! The son of Twilight Sparkle and one of those who helped banish her to the stars after she turned into Midnight Sparkle. She was stricken with grief after the passing of her friends, and deemed magic as a source of evil instead of good -- because why else would it let them die, and not her? She started siphoning magic from Equestria, intent on getting rid of it entirely, but it became too much for her.

Her system overloaded and she became Midnight Sparkle. Betrayed by her own family and banished into the stars for 1000 moons. Queen Cadence and King Shining Armor, along with Princess Flurry Heart and Prince Dusk Bringer, worked together to banish Twilight. That moment is when Dusk Bringer ascended to alicorn status and took on ruling Equestria in his mother's stead, alongside Luster Dawn.
